Between Tai Chi classes, there is just as much to Between Tai Chi classes, there is just as much to explore.

The quiet moments…
and the gentle rhythm of town.

A walk through the park,
time by the river,
or wandering the local market.

Life here moves differently.
And in that space, something begins to settle.
Most Tai Chi today is taught through outer shape— Most Tai Chi today is taught through outer shape—
lower, wider, bigger.

But without opening the kua and integrating the joints,
the body has no pathway for force.

So the knees compensate.
And force gets stuck instead of flowing through.

In Taiji, nothing is forced open.
The body is prepared first.

Students at Long Tou Shan are taught true base.

not wider
not lower
but correctly connected.

This is where real power begins.

Taiji / Tai Chi does not seek to oppose force dire Taiji / Tai Chi does not seek to oppose force directly.
It creates conditions where force can move freely—through the body, into the ground, and back out again.

The slight bend in the arm reflects a deeper principle:
	•	Never fully collapse
	•	Never fully lock
	•	Stay in a state of potential

This is the balance between yin and yang—softness within strength, openness within structure.
Most Tai Chi is taught through choreography. Postu Most Tai Chi is taught through choreography.
Postures. Shapes. External alignment.

But without the internal mechanics, it becomes something else entirely.

Master Da Zhu teaches from the inside out.
Through opening the kua, integrating the joints, and connecting the tendons and bones into one continuous structure.

This is not about memorizing form.
It is about developing a body that can actually do the work.

A rhythm you step into.

Where light moves slowly across the mountains, and time softens just enough for you to notice it.

This is where we train.
Not just in movement, but in presence.

It’s quite rare to find a Tai Chi school where meals are prepared with fresh vegetables grown right on the land, tended to daily with care.

This is Xiu — the mother-in-law of Master Da Zhu.

If you’ve studied with us, you likely remember her in the garden, quietly harvesting what would later nourish your body… preparing meals with intention… tending to the guest rooms… and holding the space in ways that often go unseen, yet deeply felt.

She is a bright light at this school.

A reminder that true cultivation extends beyond movement and into how we grow, prepare, and care for one another.

And if you have not yet met her… you are truly in for something special.

In Tai Chi, the body may be moving, but the mind becomes quiet and clear.

The slower the movement, the more we begin to feel the subtle connections through the whole body, feet rooting into the earth, and the breath naturally settling.

Over time, Tai Chi becomes more than an exercise.
It becomes a way of returning to simplicity. To nature.
